Catchup Post No.1

Ok so I realise I’ve been neglecting this blog again. As reminded by my dear friend Shino over the weekend. The reason being.. Facebook. Well, not really, but it is one of the reasons. Ever since coming back from Singapore, I’ve been ill (for a month!), then I’ve been very busy at work and then with additional freelance work.. And the rest of the time? I’ve been lazy. And I’ve been uploading my food photos to Facebook instead of here, after my friend Tracy, whose opinion I very much respect, convinced me to reactivate my account, put my food photos up there and use it to my advantage in terms of networking.

But I can’t say I really agree on the usefulness of Facebook for networking or career opportunities. But maybe it’s the way I use it. At the moment, it seems like it’s really just a means to procrastinate. At the very least, with this blog, I write posts that are more detailed than the one-liners that accompany my Facebook photo posts. So… Although I don’t think I’ll go and annoy my friends by deactivating my Facebook account for the umpteenth time, I might just try and restrain myself from spending too much time on it and keep up the blogging instead. Sounds like a plan? Indeed.

I’ve got a couple of things to recap, but let’s start off with something simple. Trophy Wife. I like them. This music video is pretty awesome. So have a look.

How I’d Live My Life

This tv ad has been out for ages now, but I really love the way it’s shot, the hand-drawn style of the superimposed titles, i even love the family featured in the ad and the fact that there’s no voiceover of a narrator, telling you about Wales or some limited special offer, leaving the story and the scenery to shine for themselves. But most important of all, I love the background music.

And up until yesterday, I had no idea who the artist was. I was on a random hunt for some new music, when I suddenly remembered the ad. I looked it up on YouTube and there it was, telling me exactly what I needed to know. Sweet Baboo aka Stephen Black is the genius behind the music. The song is How I’d Live My Life aka The Bumblebee Song. And the whole song is even better than the 40 sec version you get in the ad.

The style of the video looks quite similar to the tv ad, leading me to believe that either the director, Ryan Owen, also directed the tv ad, or they used his music videos as their inspiration. Be sure to check out the other videos/songs of Sweet Baboo, such as Little Bernadette and If Im Still In Love When I Get Back Home From Travelling on Ryan’s channel. Unfortunately, I can’t find the album, Hello Wave on Spotify. But I’ve ordered it and it shall be here sometime soon I hope, playing its lovely tunes to my welcoming ears.
